The Dartmouth AI Conference is the annual gathering of the Dartmouth community, including students, alumni, faculty, staff, and parents, hosted by the Tuck School of Business and held each October in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The Conference
A working conference, not a reunion.
The Dartmouth AI Conference convenes several hundred members of the Dartmouth community across classes, schools, industries, and coasts for a single day of substance: main-stage sessions with operators, policymakers, and researchers making real decisions in the AI era combined with structured networking that connects students with alumni in operating roles.
Hosted by the Tuck School of Business and the Center for Digital Strategies, in collaboration with partners across the institution, the conference is built on a simple premise: the institution that named the field should convene the sharpest conversations about where it goes next.
Attendance is limited to the Dartmouth community, including alumni of any Dartmouth school, current students, faculty, staff, and parents of current students.
The History
From Hanover to Silicon Valley.
The conference began in 2023, when the Center for Digital Strategies convened the inaugural Dartmouth AI Conference at Tuck in Hanover. The first edition was a one-day gathering of leaders from banking, health care, technology, venture capital, and consulting, with alumni joining virtually from around the world.
The response made one thing clear: the largest concentration of Dartmouth’s AI community wasn’t in Hanover. It was on the West Coast.
2023 — HANOVER, NH
The inaugural conference at Tuck’s Raether McLaughlin Atrium. Speakers from Bank of America, UnitedHealth Group, .406 Ventures, and Dartmouth’s own research centers.
2024 — SAN FRANCISCO, CA
The conference goes west, to the Mission Bay Conference Center to be closer to the alumni building, funding, and governing AI.
2025 — MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA
The conference finds a new home at the Computer History Museum, the institution that preserves the machines on which the field was built.
2026 — MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA
The fourth annual conference returns to the Computer History Museum on October 16, seventy years after Dartmouth named the field.
The 70th
Seventy years after the summer that started it all.
In July 1956, ten researchers gathered in Hanover for the Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence; the eight-week workshop where John McCarthy and his collaborators first used the term artificial intelligence.
In 2026, Dartmouth marks that anniversary with a yearlong series of events, convenings, and public conversations under the banner of AI@70. The Dartmouth AI Conference on October 16 is the Bay Area moment in that anniversary year: the gathering where Dartmouth’s business, technology, and alumni community examines how AI is transforming strategy, operations, and leadership.

The Dartmouth Conference, Revisited
October 29–30, Hanover, New Hampshire
The flagship convening of Dartmouth’s AI@70 anniversary, held on the Dartmouth campus. It gathers researchers, developers, creators, and institutional leaders to deliberate on how AI can responsibly augment human judgment and creativity. It is a separate event with separate registration.
